Orcs are the main population of Unbular society. They fulfill many rolls, but their number and physical attributes make them ideal for hard labor.

Orcs are humanoids that appear a little stockier than humans. They have broad, almost porcine noses, wide ears, and small eyes compared to their head-size, though the eyes are actually the same size as the average human. Some orcs have two tusks jutting from the lower jaw, mostly males. Their skin can be green, purple-grey, or some shade of brown from dark to almost red. Both male and female are more muscular than humans, but the females tend to be leaner in build than the males. Hair color is generally dark brown to black and can be fine and soft or oily depending on care.

Orcs have a violent streak in them and those who choose a path of darkness can be vicious and cruel. This and the hard labor has kept orc lifespans relatively short compared to most Unbular.

Lifespan average: 75 years.

Orcs mate for life in a binary reproductive relationship. If either mate dies, the other will not likely find another mate. Instead, they often throw themselves into work, children, or other pursuits to honor the time they had previously put into the relationship.

While orcs are not known for their intelligence, there are some who have become successful wizards or scholars. It's just not the norm. Most orcs work in labor-intensive jobs such as mining, lumberjacking, and other gathering or simple crafting skills. Some do work on the open ocean and make excellent sailors. Orcs understand their place within Unbular society as the workhorses. They take pride in their steady, sturdy labors because they understand that the society survives because of them. There is honor in what they do and the rest of the Unbular society is usually grateful for it.

As Heroes[edit]

For some orcs, the simple life of hard work and family is insufficient. They seek honor and glory out on the open road. Not a few, especially in their younger years, head out into the wilds of the world to seek fame, fortune, and glory for their kind. Though some struggle to find a place in non-Unbular society - especially worlds where orcs live by a different moral standard than the so-called "fairer kinds" like humans and elfs - orcs will find companions of any kind so long as the goals are aligned and those they meet are not demeaning.

A few older orcs are drawn into the heroic life by events. These orcs - both males and females - bring with them the wisdom and stability of a lifetime of steady, sturdy hard work. Often times they are advisors to the leader of the group or even become the leader themselves.
